Wedding Grand Entrance - songs to make it special

Dan and Robyn Butler
"INTRODUCING MR and MRS ..... "

Yay! The wedding is over, you have said your "I Do's" and it is time for the party.  Receptions are the fun part where you can kick off your shoes and enjoy the first moments of your married life, celebrating with your family and friends.  Most like to enter the room to a bit of fanfare, making The Grand Entrance as it is called.  But how? and to what song?

We have done many different Grand Entrances, from a trumpet fanfare for a bride and groom who waved to the crowd from a balcony - Royalty style, to a couple who bopped into their candy themed reception to the song "I Love Candy".  The entrance can and should be a reflection of the couples likes and personalities.

To give you some ideas, here is a list of some of the more popular songs we have used:

Got to Get You Into My Life                                           Earth, Wind & Fire
Enter Sandman                                                                Metallica
This Will Be (An Ever Lasting Love)                               Natalie Cole
Power Of Love                                                               Huey Lewis
You're my first, My last, My Everything                           Barry White
Signed,Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours                               Stevie Wonder
I Wanna Grow Old With You                                        Adam Sandler
The Best is Yet to Come                                                Michael Buble
Lost in this Moment                                                       Big & Rich
My Wish                                                                       Rascal Flatts
Marry Me                                                                     Train
Only Time                                                                      Enya
DJ's Got Us Fallin In Love                                             Usher
Crazy In Love                                                               Beyonce
Stuck Like Glue                                                            Sugarland
Walking on Sunshine                                                     Katrina & the Waves
Chapel Of Love                                                            Dixie Cups
I Gotta Feeling                                                             Black Eye Peas
Finally                                                                          Ce Ce Peniston

Some prefer to have a separate song for the wedding party to make their 'Grand Entrance' to.  Here are some suggestions (which also can work well for Bride and Groom)

Another One Bites The Dust                               Queen
Walking on Sunshine                                           Katrina and the Waves
Friends In Low Places                                        Garth Brooks
We are Family                                                    Sister Sledge
Wobble                                                              V.I.C.

Eye Of The Tiger                                              Survivor
Walk This Way                                                Aerosmith -(alone or with Run DMC)
Crazy Train                                                      Ozzy Osborne
L-O-V-E                                                         Nat King Cole
Let's Get Loud                                                 Jennifer Lopez
Good Time                                                       Alan Jackson

Songs to make Garter Toss Fun

Cody Sims - doing the garter toss
The Garter Toss is another time honored tradition.  This is typically done with a special "toss Garter" put on the bride for this occasion, so she can keep the one worn for the wedding.  It is done right after the 'Bouquet Toss"

A chair is placed in center of room for bride to sit.  The Groom then gets down on one knee and removes the garter.  Once he has the garter, he slings it over his shoulder (or head) towards the single guys waiting to catch it.

After it is caught - some parties end it there ... others continue the fun by having the garter catcher place garter on the leg of the lady who caught the bouquet.

What makes this really fun is the music.  Up beat, sexy, fun songs are the best.

Money Dance - Dollar Dance - Honeymoon Dance

Call it the Money Dance, Dollar Dance, honeymoon Dance, It is a time honored dance where the guests make an Monetary offering for the opportunity to dance with the bride or groom. This gesture is a way of wishing good fortune upon the newly married couple as well as helping them out financially.  The bills can be pinned to the bride and groom or placed in a purse-like pouch worn by them before the guest has the opportunity to dance with them.  Some wear a ribbon sash for pinning the money to.

It can be helpful to have "Special Attendants" help by organizing the line-up of guests, handing out the pins, or explaining to the guests to put money in the bag, and signaling when it is time to change partners. Children as well as adults of all ages can enjoy the money dance. Once the money dance starts, it is best to let it continue until everyone who wants to has had a chance to participate. When the dwindles down to zero, the bride and groom may finish the last song by dancing together.

To assure a smooth flow of events, it is best to do the Toasts and Cake Cutting immediately after the dinner, before the first dance and other special dances. The money dance is best done immediately afterward, this assures most of the guests are still there. The DJ can then open the dance floor to everyone.

This Dance can be used at Graduation parties and other events as well! ..

The day is YOURS - make it special!
